ThaiThuk is published by Genext Information Systems. This page sets out how the site is reported and edited, so you can judge for yourself how much weight to put on anything you read here. If we fall short of it, tell us — that page explains how.
Who writes this site
Our work is published under an organisation byline, Genext Information Systems Staff, rather than under individual names. That is a deliberate choice and we would rather be straightforward about what it means: it tells you the publisher stands behind the piece, and it does not tell you that any particular person with particular expertise wrote it. Where an individual writer is credited in future, that credit will be a real person with a real biography, not a house name.
We do not attribute quotes, firsthand experience or professional credentials to people who did not provide them.
How news reports are sourced
Our news reporting is largely built on the work of Thailand's local press — principally Pattaya Mail and The Pattaya News — together with official statements from Thai police, courts and government bodies where those are available.
What that means in practice:
- We link the source. Every news report on this site links the primary report or official statement it was built from. If a claim on our page is not traceable to a source you can open, it should not be there.
- We do not claim to have been present. Where we are reporting someone else's reporting, we say so. A dateline on this site means the location the events happened in, not a claim that one of our staff stood there.
- We say what remains unconfirmed. Early reporting on a criminal matter is often wrong in its details. Where the facts are contested or a suspect has not been convicted, we try to write it that way rather than tidying it up.
- We do not name victims, minors or unconvicted suspects beyond what the originating publication and the authorities have already made public.
Dates, updates and freshness
Every article carries a published date. Where a story has moved on or a guide has been materially revised, it also carries an updated date, and that date changes only when the substance changes — not when we adjust a template or redeploy the site. A page whose "updated" date moves every week without its content changing is telling you nothing.
Different kinds of page get checked on different schedules:
- Live news — corrected and updated as facts develop.
- Visa and immigration pages — checked whenever a rule changes or an announcement is made, and each carries a prominent "current as of" date. See the visa hub for why we treat these differently from everything else.
- Fares and prices — reviewed quarterly, and whenever an official change is announced.
- Festivals — year-specific dates reviewed annually; the explanations are written to stay true between updates.
- Travel guides — reviewed at least annually.
What we are not
Nothing on ThaiThuk is legal, immigration, medical or financial advice. We report what the rules are and cite where they come from. Immigration decisions are made by immigration officers at the border, and they have discretion we cannot predict. For anything that affects your ability to travel, confirm with the Thai embassy or consulate responsible for your country before you book.
Images and rights
Where a photograph belongs to another publisher, we credit it on the page and record its provenance — publisher, caption and dimensions — in the repository alongside the article. We are working through the images on this site to move them onto owned or properly licensed files. Where you believe an image has been used incorrectly, tell us and we will take it down while we check.
How the site is paid for
ThaiThuk is funded by display advertising, served through Google AdSense. Advertisers have no say in what we publish and no advance sight of it. We also run a small network of related Thailand sites — ThaiVisaFinder, ThaiHolidayBudget, ThaiLetters, ThaiLotteryNumbers and ThaiTripPlanner — published by the same company; they are listed in the footer and identified as ours, so you are never being pointed at a "recommendation" that is quietly our own property. Any paid or affiliate placement is marked as such in the link itself.
Where AI is and is not used
Some illustrative and decorative imagery on this site is AI-generated. Where an image on a news report is a real press photograph rather than an illustration, the article says so.
AI tooling is also used in production and maintenance of the site — drafting, editing and technical work. What it does not do is decide what is true. Facts, figures, dates and quotes come from the sources linked on the page, and a claim that cannot be traced to one of those sources does not get published.
